To the man who loved the girl in combat boots

This one's for the boy,
who fell for the girl in combat boots;
Had the strength to step in to a life,
which idealistically just wouldn't suit;

this one's for the boy,
who had the courage to love a bad-ass;
never intimidated by her free spirit,
never insecure with all her sass;

Plenty tales told about the fauji wives,
I guess it's time...
it's also the fauji girl's man,
whom we must recognize

this one's for the boy,
who made her feel beautiful;
even when broken and bruised,
ignoring the drama back at home, letting her peacefully cruise;

the boy who probably understood zilch,
about the reason behind her frustration and tears;
but who patiently waited,
days and even weeks, for that rant which he'd hear...

this one's for the boy,
who made peace with coming back to an empty home;
being okay with meeting in months,
and the midnight walks which he'd now take alone;

keeping the tradition of letters alive,
he knows it gave her strength to carry on;
he accepted everything which her life threw at him,
lighting up, even when it all seemed dim...

this is for the boy who loved...
beyond reason or logic,
despite distance and disparity,
because this lifetime and beyond, she's still the one he'd oways pick...

  3. It's based on something I've always felt. It's difficult for a fauji's woman, it's worse for a fauji's man. Kudos to the effort, very fresh writing. Relatable
